ACO Enablement Company Profiles PCP Attribution & Financial Benchmarks to Succeed in MSSP

Challenges

Ahead of CMS’s Performance Year 2024 application deadline, this organization’s priority was ACO growth. They were engaged in conversations with over 30 primary care practices, but needed help understanding the MSSP attributed beneficiary volume and historic benchmark for each practice in order to prioritize sales conversations. Not only did they lack access to a national data set for 100% of Medicare Fee for Service beneficiaries, but they were also unable to replicate the prospective MSSP attribution methodology in advance of an important deadline.

How CareJourney Helped

This organization partnered with CareJourney for Financial Benchmarking services in order to get the insights needed to support their ACO selling season.

Using CareJourney’s MSSP Financial Benchmarking capabilities, they were able to prioritize their targeted primary care practices with higher MSSP attribution and a projected tailwind based on their historic benchmark.

Moving forward, they are exploring an expansion of their partnership with CareJourney to gain access to our platform which enables “self-service” financial benchmarking.

Impact

Through this Financial Benchmarking engagement, this organization was able to identify several primary care practices that align well with their MSSP strategy, and will allow them to expand their footprint to include two additional states.

Importantly, as an organization that operates ACOs with considerable downside risk (Enhanced Track), they also identified a handful of provider groups with either low volume or a significant benchmark headwind. By excluding those groups from their PY24 strategy, this organization is able to grow intelligently and set themselves up for further success in MSSP.
